Sometimes I worry that I am getting old and life is passing me by. I'm only 36 and live a very full life so it isn't really true. I tell myself that there are a lot of 100 year olds out there who would kill to be 80. Even more 80 year olds out there who would kill to be 60, and a huge amount of 60 year olds out there who would kill to be 36. I know for certain that I wouldn't want to be in my 20s again, and being 60, 80 or 100 doesn't sound so bad anymore if you can come to terms with what comes after.

Hey Joe. Unrelated , but how do I do a post. I dropped three items I thought were posts but they are just notes. I’m kinda stumbling around on the app

Hey John - I write newsletter posts on the laptop. Notes on the phone app. I think you can only do notes with the app.

Thank you for those reminders Joe! This week, I just realized, I was fortunate to have two full “good old days.“ A great niece and nephew visited me on my farm, and we did these things together: caught minnows in our stream and fished with them as bait; rode horseback; played with the new kitten; fixed soft tacos and sweet corn; went to see a 600-year-old tree; painted four gates; ate ice cream; and played Uno until we almost fell asleep. We also laughed a lot!

Somehow I made the best pancakes I ever have last weekend. Light and fluffy. I think the trick was using pre-sifted flour, which I did not realize existed until after we ate the pancakes.

How many subpar pancakes must we endure until the tyranny of lumpy flour ends?

As someone who sometimes holds on to the negative a bit too much, I’m trying to savor unexpectedly good things.

Nice column, btw.
