You must be a Wall Street Journal reader because boy do they produce a lot if stuff just like this. Well played!

Lol 15 minute commute

I may have been projecting my commute onto others in this sentence. Shoutout to anyone who can finish an audiobook in a week on their commute.

That was the funniest part of the whole thing

You know you can… choose where to live and where to work, right? And that a long commute is one of the strongest predictors of unhappiness and low life satisfaction? A 15 minute commute should be normal. If you’re making yourself miserable with a long commute, you should strongly consider making different choices.

That's very nice but unrealistic for where a lot of people have to live and work.

You live in one of the HCOL where people commute well over an hour on the regular. You know this.

I live in a HCOL place. I cannot afford to live where the jobs are. Rent is 3k per month which is nearly 50% of what I make. Where do you live that you're unaware of this? Fact in many places in the US.

"28000 trips around the sun" is 28000 years. You should live so long!

In fairness, it can sometimes feel like 28,000 trips around the sun.

This is fantastic. I recently found myself taking on an individual contributor role after 15 years in management. It’s very rewarding to just “Quietly Work”.

Ugh. Worked for the City of Los Angeles for 28+ years and it was my only desire that people would just come to work, WORK, and then go home. Naaaaay! There was so much personal BS going on in the workplace, that nothing got done! That’s Civil Service for ya. 🙄

So “quiet working” is just showing up and doing your job?! Isn’t that what it’s supposed to be? Who comes up with these things?

Nicely done. I chuckled at the paid vacation part. The Head of HR at my work frequently sends out important messages that are "exciting news" on Sunday afternoons. The messaging is subtle: "I'm working on the weekend and so should you." Bleck
